Discover the Top 10 must-visit Attractions in Beijing: Shichahai

Shichahai Lake Ice Field for ice skating is the Hottest Spot!

During my winter vacation trip to Beijing, the memories are still fresh in my mind. In this blog post, I’m excited to share my experiences with you and provide a personal guide to enhance your visit. Let’s dive in!

Today, Beijing’s temperature ranges from minus one to minus ten degrees Celsius, with gusts reaching 5-7 degrees. The atmosphere is icy and snowy, yet the crowds are unstoppable. Shichahai, Yinding Bridge, and Yandai Xijie are bustling with tourists taking photos, skating, and indulging in Bingtanghulu. It’s an excellent opportunity to experience the pre-Spring Festival atmosphere reminiscent of temple fairs.

My enthusiasm for ice skating led me to Shichahai, only to find that the bicycles at the Qianhai comprehensive ice skating area were already rented out due to the weekend rush. With the ice skating rink packed to capacity and long queues in the chilly winds, we opted to switch plans. Instead, we decided to admire the stunning sunset at Houhai, which offers one of Beijing’s most beautiful sunset views.

A Brief Introduction

 Hutongs in Shichahai (Personal Opinion)

  1. Yanbaoxie Street: One of Beijing’s oldest Hutongs.
  2. Ya’er Hutong: Adjacent to Yanbaoxie Street and Gulou, Ya’er Hutong is home to the Shichahai Academy and the mysterious Guanghua Temple. Nearby attractions include the former residences of Soong Ching Ling and Prince Gong’s Mansion, as well as Nanluogu Lane. The primary school, Ya’er Hutong Primary School, epitomizes the ethic of “study hard and make progress every day” among the eight ethnic groups.
